To start the Stihl FB 131, ensure the fuel tank is filled, set the choke to the start position, press the primer bulb several times, and pull the starter grip until the engine fires. Then, move the choke to the run position and pull the starter grip again to start.
Perform regular maintenance on the Stihl FB 131 by cleaning the air filter every 25 hours, replacing the spark plug annually, and checking the fuel filter every 50 hours. Always refer to the user manual for detailed instructions.
If the Stihl FB 131 won't start, check the fuel quality and ensure the tank is filled. Inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage, and clean or replace it if necessary. Verify that the air filter is clean and that the choke is set correctly.
Use a high-quality, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89, mixed with Stihl two-stroke engine oil at a ratio of 50:1. Avoid using fuel with more than 10% ethanol content.
To clean the air filter, remove the filter cover, take out the air filter, and clean it using warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling. If the filter is damaged, replace it.
If the engine overheats, turn off the machine and let it cool down. Check for blockages in the air intake or cooling fins, and ensure the fuel mixture is correct. Clean and maintain as necessary.
To improve performance, ensure regular maintenance is performed, use fresh fuel, and keep the cutting attachments sharp. Regularly inspect and clean the air filter and replace the spark plug as needed.
Always wear protective gear, including gloves, goggles, and ear protection. Ensure the work area is clear of bystanders and obstacles. Follow the user manual's safety instructions and operate the machine as directed.
Before storing for the winter, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the machine thoroughly, inspect for damage, and store it in a dry, cool place. Consider using a protective cover.
Excessive vibration may be caused by unbalanced or damaged cutting attachments. Check the attachments for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Inspect the engine mounts and tighten any loose components.
