To start the Stihl BG-KM blower, ensure it is properly attached to the powerhead. Set the choke to the closed position, prime the fuel bulb, and pull the starter cord until the engine starts. Once started, move the choke to the open position.
Regular maintenance for the BG-KM includes cleaning the air filter every 25 hours of use, checking the spark plug every 100 hours, and inspecting the fuel system for leaks or damage regularly.
Ensure that the air filter is clean and not clogged. Check for obstructions in the blower tube and inspect the impeller for damage. Also, verify that the powerhead is running at full throttle.
Use a high-quality, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89, mixed with a 2-cycle engine oil at a ratio of 50:1.
Align the drive shaft of the blower attachment with the coupling on the powerhead, insert it fully, and tighten the clamp screw to secure the attachment.
Check for any loose parts or fasteners and tighten them as necessary. Inspect the impeller for any signs of damage or imbalance. Ensure the attachment is properly secured to the powerhead.
While the BG-KM blower can handle damp leaves, it is more efficient to use it on dry leaves to prevent clogging and ensure optimal performance.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and clean it with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely before reinstalling.
Check the fuel level and quality, inspect the air filter for dirt, and ensure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped. Additionally, verify that the fuel mixture is correct.
Clean the blower thoroughly, remove any debris from the air intake and tubes, and store it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Ensure it is properly detached from the powerhead.
