Use a high-quality 2-cycle engine oil mixed with unleaded gasoline that has an octane rating of 89 or higher. The recommended mixing ratio is 50:1.
To start your Stihl BG 45, move the stop switch to the 'I' position, set the choke lever to the closed position, pull the starter rope until the engine fires, then move the choke to open and pull the starter rope again until the engine starts.
Ensure the fuel tank has the correct fuel mixture. Check that the spark plug is clean and functioning. Verify that the air filter is clean and not clogged. If the problem persists, consult a professional.
Clean the air filter after approximately every 10 hours of operation or sooner if the blower is used in a dusty environment.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter, checking and replacing the spark plug if necessary, inspecting the fuel filter, and tightening any loose screws or parts.
For long-term storage, empty the fuel tank, run the engine until it stops, clean the blower, and store it in a dry, dust-free location.
Common causes for a rough-running engine include using old fuel, a dirty air filter, or a worn spark plug. Ensure all components are clean and replace any that are worn or damaged.
Stihl recommends using fuel with no more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage and ensure optimal performance.
Ensure all components are securely fastened. Use anti-vibration gloves and maintain a proper grip. Regular maintenance can also help minimize vibrations.
Check for cracks or damage in the fuel lines and fuel tank. Replace any damaged components. If the issue persists, consult with a professional technician.
