To start the Stihl BF-MM BK-MM Yard Boss, ensure it is on a flat surface. Set the choke to the start position, press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible, and pull the starter rope firmly. Once the engine starts, move the choke to the run position.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting and replacing the spark plug if necessary, lubricating moving parts, and examining the fuel system for leaks or blockages.
If the Yard Boss does not start, verify that there is fresh fuel in the tank. Check the spark plug for fouling and replace if necessary. Ensure the air filter is clean and the choke is set correctly.
Excessive vibration may be caused by imbalanced or damaged attachments. Check for debris lodged in the tines or attachments, and ensure all parts are securely fastened.
To change attachments, turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug. Use the provided tool to loosen the locking mechanism, remove the current attachment, and then secure the new attachment in place.
The Stihl BF-MM BK-MM Yard Boss requires a fuel mixture of 50:1 ratio of gasoline to Stihl 2-cycle engine oil. Ensure the mixture is well shaken before use.
The spark plug should be inspected and cleaned every 25 hours of operation and replaced annually or if it shows signs of wear or damage.
Before storage, clean the Yard Boss thoroughly, empty the fuel tank, and run the engine until it stops to ensure no fuel is left in the carburetor. Store it in a dry, well-ventilated area.
Remove the tines and use a flat file to sharpen them. Follow the original bevel angle and ensure each tine is sharpened evenly. Reattach securely after sharpening.
Wear appropriate protective gear including gloves, goggles, and ear protection. Keep bystanders away and be mindful of the working area to avoid hitting hidden obstacles.
