The Stihl BF-KM is a cultivator attachment designed for the Stihl KombiSystem. It is primarily used for breaking up soil in gardens and flower beds, making it easier to plant and manage soil conditions.
To attach the BF-KM to the KombiMotor, align the attachment's shaft with the KombiMotor's coupling sleeve. Push the attachment in until it clicks, then secure it by tightening the knob on the coupling. Ensure it is securely locked before use.
Regular maintenance of the BF-KM includes cleaning the tines after each use, checking and tightening all screws and nuts, and lubricating moving parts. Inspect the tines for wear and replace them if necessary.
If the BF-KM is not breaking soil effectively, check for clogged tines and clean them. Ensure the attachment is securely fastened to the KombiMotor. Inspect the tines for wear and replace them if they are dull or damaged.
The BF-KM is designed for breaking up soft to moderately compacted soil. Using it in rocky soil may cause damage to the tines or reduce its effectiveness. For rocky conditions, manually remove large stones before using the cultivator.
Store the BF-KM in a dry, sheltered area away from direct sunlight. Clean the attachment thoroughly and apply a light coat of oil to the tines to prevent rust. Ensure it is stored in a stable position to avoid damage.
When using the BF-KM, wear protective eyewear, gloves, and sturdy footwear. Keep bystanders at a safe distance and operate the tool at a comfortable speed to maintain control. Be cautious of hidden obstacles in the soil.
To improve soil penetration, adjust the working angle of the BF-KM by slightly tilting it forward. Also, ensure the tines are sharp and clean. Work slowly to allow the tines to dig deeper into the soil.
If the BF-KM makes unusual noises, stop the machine immediately and inspect it for debris or damage. Check for loose parts and tighten if necessary. If the noise persists, consult a professional technician for further inspection.
The tines on the BF-KM should be replaced when they become worn or dull, which can vary depending on usage intensity. Regular inspection will help determine when replacement is needed, typically after a few seasons of regular use.
