To install new line, first ensure the trimmer is turned off and disconnected. Press the tabs on the side of the trimmer head to open it. Remove any remaining line and clean the spool. Cut two lengths of line (recommended diameter), and insert each line end into the holes on the spool. Wind the line tightly and evenly in the direction of the arrows. Secure the line in the notches and reassemble the head.
If the line keeps breaking, check for obstructions or sharp surfaces that might be damaging the line. Ensure you are using the correct line diameter as specified in the user manual. Additionally, inspect the trimmer head for wear and replace it if necessary. Operating the trimmer at the correct speed can also prevent line breakage.
If the line does not advance, make sure the spool is not jammed or tangled. Inspect the line for incorrect winding or improper installation. Check if the line is worn down to a short length and replace if necessary. Also, ensure the bump feed mechanism is not obstructed or damaged.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the trimmer head after each use, checking and replacing the line as needed, and inspecting the head for damage. Lubricate moving parts periodically and replace any worn components. Refer to the user manual for detailed maintenance intervals and procedures.
To remove the trimmer head, first, ensure the trimmer is off and disconnected. Use a small screwdriver to press the locking tab and twist the head counterclockwise to unscrew it. Remove the head from the spindle for maintenance or replacement.
It is recommended to use only the line diameter and type specified by Stihl for the AutoCut C 25-2. Using incompatible line can lead to poor performance and potential damage to the trimmer head. Consult the user manual for specific line recommendations.
To clean the trimmer head, remove any debris or grass clippings after each use. Disassemble the head by pressing the side tabs and separating the spool. Use a brush to remove dirt and build-up. Rinse with water and dry thoroughly before reassembling.
Signs that the head needs replacement include visible cracks, excessive wear, or if the line no longer advances properly despite troubleshooting. If the bump mechanism is worn or damaged, it's time to consider replacing the head.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced trimmer head or damaged components. Check for any line that may be unevenly wound or sticking out. Inspect the head for damage and ensure it's securely attached to the trimmer. Replace any worn or damaged parts.
The AutoCut C 25-2 is compatible with many Stihl trimmers, but not all. Refer to the compatibility list provided by Stihl or consult your trimmer's user manual to ensure compatibility before installation.
