To start the trimmer, ensure the device is on a flat surface. Press the primer bulb 6 times, set the choke to the full position, and pull the starter rope until the engine fires. Once it fires, set the choke to half and pull again until the engine runs.
Regular maintenance is crucial. Clean the air filter every 5 hours of use, replace it every 25 hours, and inspect the spark plug regularly. Additionally, check for loose screws and fittings and clean the trimmer head after each use.
If the trimmer does not start, check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Make sure the air filter is clean and the primer bulb is functioning properly.
Use a 40:1 ratio of unleaded gasoline to 2-cycle oil. Ensure the gasoline has no more than 10% ethanol content and is fresh to prevent engine issues.
To replace the trimmer line, turn off the trimmer and disconnect the spark plug wire. Remove the spool, and insert new line into the holes, winding it evenly and tightly. Reattach the spool and ensure it is secure before use.
If the line breaks frequently, ensure you are using the correct diameter line. Avoid contact with hard surfaces, and make sure the line is wound properly on the spool. Check for any sharp edges on the trimmer head that may cut the line.
To adjust the carburetor, locate the adjustment screws on the side. Turn the low-speed screw clockwise until it stops, then counterclockwise 1.5 turns. Adjust the high-speed screw similarly. Fine-tune while the engine runs until optimal performance is achieved.
Before storing, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Clean the trimmer thoroughly, check for any damage, and store it in a dry, sheltered location. Remove the spark plug and add a few drops of oil into the cylinder to prevent corrosion.
To convert the trimmer into an edger, turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug. Adjust the handle to the desired position and rotate the head 180 degrees until it locks into place for edging. Ensure all components are secure before use.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a damaged or unbalanced trimmer head. Inspect the head for damage and ensure the line is evenly wound. Tighten any loose screws or fittings on the trimmer. Replace the head if necessary to reduce vibration.
