To change the oil, first run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up. Turn off the engine and remove the key. Place a pan under the oil drain valve, open the valve, and drain the oil completely. Replace the oil filter, close the valve, and fill with new oil as per manufacturer specifications.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
Sharpen the blades at least once per mowing season or more frequently if you notice uneven cutting or if the blades become dull. Always balance the blades after sharpening.
Check the battery connections and ensure they are tight and corrosion-free. Verify that there is adequate fuel in the tank and that the fuel valve is open. Ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the tractor. Move the lever to the desired position to adjust the cutting height. Refer to the manual for specific height settings and recommendations based on grass type.
Check the drive belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure that the transmission fluid is at the correct level and is not contaminated. If issues persist, consult a professional technician.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. If it's a foam filter, wash it with mild detergent and water, let it dry, and lightly oil it before reinstalling. If it's a paper filter, gently tap it to remove debris or replace it if it's too dirty.
Regularly maintain your tractor by changing the oil, air filter, and spark plug. Keep the blades sharp and the tires properly inflated. Avoid excessive idling and operate the tractor at recommended speeds.
Clean the tractor thoroughly and remove any grass and debris. Change the oil and filter, and add fuel stabilizer to the gasoline. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Check if the mower deck is level and adjust it if necessary. Ensure the blades are sharp and balanced. Inspect the tire pressure and adjust them to the recommended levels.
