To start the trimmer, ensure the unit is on a flat surface. Set the choke lever to the choke position, press the primer bulb 5-6 times, and pull the starter rope until the engine starts. Once started, move the choke lever to the run position.
Use a mixture of unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 and 2-cycle oil at a ratio of 40:1. Never use automotive oil; it can damage the engine.
Check to ensure there is fresh, properly mixed fuel in the tank. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, and clean or replace it if necessary. Verify that the air filter is clean and not clogged.
Ensure the trimmer head is not clogged with debris. Check if the line is wound correctly on the spool and that it is not too short. Replace the spool or line if necessary.
To replace the line, turn off the trimmer and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the spool from the trimmer head, and replace it with a new line, following the directional arrows on the spool.
Perform regular maintenance every 25 hours of use, including cleaning the air filter, checking the spark plug, and inspecting the trimmer head. Annual maintenance should include replacing the fuel filter and inspecting the entire unit for wear and damage.
Drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Remove and clean the spark plug, and add a few drops of oil into the cylinder. Store the trimmer in a cool, dry place.
The Poulan Pro TE 450 is not designed for use with attachments. Using unauthorized attachments can damage the unit and void the warranty.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a bent shaft, damaged trimmer head, or improperly installed trimmer line. Inspect these components and replace any damaged parts.
Always wear protective eyewear, gloves, and long pants. Ensure the area is clear of bystanders, especially children and pets. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and maintain a firm grip on the trimmer during operation.
