To start the Poulan Pro PXT175G42 Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is in the "Off" position, and the throttle is set to the "Fast" position. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "Start" position. Release the key once the engine starts.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the fuel tank has fuel, and verify the spark plug is in good condition. Also, make sure the safety features such as the parking brake and PTO switch are properly engaged.
It is recommended to change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 50 hours of operation or once per season, whichever comes first.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than 10% as they can damage the engine.
Regularly check the blades for damage, bending, or dullness. Sharpen the blades every 25 hours of use or if you notice uneven cutting. Replace blades if they are damaged or excessively worn.
Ensure the blades are sharp and properly aligned. Check for debris or grass buildup under the deck. Adjust the cutting height to an appropriate level for the grass conditions.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the right side of the tractor. Move the lever to the desired height setting, ranging from 1.5 to 4 inches.
Regular maintenance tasks include checking and changing the oil, inspecting the air filter, sharpening the blades, checking tire pressure, and cleaning the mower deck. Consult the owner's manual for a detailed maintenance schedule.
To clean the mower deck, first ensure the engine is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected. Use a garden hose to rinse off grass clippings and debris. For thorough cleaning, use a scraper or brush to remove any stubborn buildup.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced or damaged blades, loose components, or worn belts. Inspect the blades for balance and damage, and check that all bolts and screws are tightened.
