To start the Poulan Pro PRK17G42STB Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the gear lever is in neutral, and the throttle is set to the choke position. Turn the ignition key to the start position and release it once the engine starts.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery charge, ensure the fuel tank has fuel, and verify that the spark plug is clean and functioning. Also, make sure the seat switch and safety interlocks are engaged.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. This includes changing the oil, checking the air filter, and inspecting belts and blades.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then stop the engine and remove the oil drain plug. Allow the oil to drain completely, replace the plug, and refill with the recommended oil type.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
Check if the tire pressure is even on all wheels and ensure the mower deck is level. Also, inspect the blades for sharpness and damage, and replace them if necessary.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced or damaged blades, loose engine mounting bolts, or worn belts. Inspect these areas and tighten or replace components as needed.
To adjust the cutting height, use the lever located on the right side of the tractor. Move it to the desired position, which raises or lowers the mower deck accordingly.
Ensure the transmission is properly engaged and check the drive belt for wear or damage. Additionally, verify that the parking brake is fully released and the transmission is in the correct gear.
To clean the mower deck, safely elevate the tractor and use a garden hose to wash away grass clippings and debris. Avoid using high-pressure washers, as they can damage components.
