To start the Poulan Pro PR6Y21RP mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled, the oil level is adequate, and the spark plug is connected. Pull the starter cord quickly while holding down the operator presence control bar at the handle.
Use SAE 30 oil when operating the mower in temperatures above 32°F. For colder environments, use SAE 10W-30. Always check the oil level before use.
If the mower doesn't start, check for fuel, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, inspect the air filter for clogs, and verify that the safety bar is engaged.
Sharpen the mower blade after every 20-25 hours of use or at the start of each mowing season to ensure optimal performance and a clean cut.
Uncut grass patches may be due to a dull blade, incorrect mowing height, or clogged discharge chute. Sharpen the blade, adjust the cutting height, and clear any clogs.
To clean the mower deck, turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a garden hose to wash away grass clippings and debris, then dry the deck to prevent rust.
Before storing the mower for winter, drain the fuel tank, change the oil, remove and clean the spark plug, and store the mower in a dry location. Consider removing the battery if applicable.
To improve fuel efficiency, regularly clean or replace the air filter, keep the blade sharp, and ensure the tires are properly inflated. Also, mow during cooler parts of the day to reduce engine stress.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced or damaged blade. Check the blade for damage and balance it if necessary. Also, inspect for loose bolts and hardware.
If the self-propel feature is not working, check the drive belt for wear or damage and replace it if necessary. Ensure the drive cable is properly connected and adjusted.
