The Poulan Pro PR621 snow engine is designed to run on clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than 10% to prevent engine damage.
Ensure the fuel is fresh and the oil is suitable for cold temperatures. Use the electric start feature if available, or pull the recoil starter firmly. Make sure the choke is in the correct position for starting in cold weather.
After each use, clean the snow and ice from the engine and housing. Check for loose or damaged parts, and tighten or replace as necessary. Ensure the fuel tank is emptied if storing the machine for an extended period.
Disconnect the spark plug wire and remove any debris around the plug area. Use a spark plug socket to remove the old spark plug. Install the new spark plug by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten with the socket. Reattach the spark plug wire.
Check if there's fuel in the tank and that it's fresh. Ensure the choke is engaged if needed and verify the spark plug is functioning. Inspect the fuel lines and carburetor for blockages. If issues persist, consult the user manual or a professional technician.
Oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of operation and then every 25 hours or at the beginning of each season, whichever comes first. Always use the recommended oil type for best performance.
Drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor of fuel. Clean the machine thoroughly and check for any needed repairs. Store in a dry, covered area and lubricate any moving parts to prevent rust.
Ensure the auger and discharge chute are clear of any debris. Adjust the skid shoes to the correct height for the surface being cleared. Keep the engine well-maintained and consider using a fuel stabilizer for optimal performance.
Wear appropriate clothing, including safety glasses and hearing protection. Keep hands and feet away from moving parts, and never operate the machine in enclosed spaces due to carbon monoxide risks. Always shut off the engine before performing maintenance.
Loosen the nuts on the skid shoes and adjust them to the desired height, typically 1/8 inch above paved surfaces and higher for gravel. Ensure both sides are even before retightening the nuts to secure them in place.
