Poulan Pro PR17542STB Operator's Manual

To change the oil, park the tractor on a level surface and turn off the engine. Disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Place a container under the oil drain valve, open the valve, and allow the old oil to drain completely. Close the valve, replace the oil filter if necessary, and refill with the recommended oil type and amount.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content as it can damage the engine.
To adjust the cutting deck level, park the tractor on a flat surface and ensure the engine is off. Adjust the deck leveling links on both sides by loosening the nuts and moving the deck to the desired height. Tighten the nuts and check the level using a tape measure.
Ensure the battery is charged and the terminals are clean and tight. Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for wear and replace if necessary. Also, ensure the parking brake is engaged and the blade engagement lever is in the off position.
The air filter should be checked before each mowing season and cleaned or replaced as necessary. Under dusty conditions, check more frequently and replace if the filter appears clogged or damaged.
Clean the tractor thoroughly and remove grass and debris. Change the oil and oil filter. Add fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank and run the engine for a few minutes. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Remove the blade by securing it with a block of wood and loosening the bolt with a wrench. Use a file or bench grinder to sharpen the blade, maintaining the original cutting angle. Balance the blade before reinstalling it to ensure even cutting and reduce vibration.
Check if the tires are inflated evenly and adjust as necessary. Inspect the blades for sharpness and damage, and replace if needed. Ensure the deck is level and that the blades are properly installed. Adjust the cutting height and speed to match the terrain conditions.
Regularly check the battery terminals for corrosion and clean them if needed. Ensure the battery is charged, especially before storage. During long storage periods, disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Use a battery maintainer to keep it charged.
Always read the operator's manual before use. Wear appropriate protective gear, such as gloves and safety glasses. Ensure the area is clear of people and pets. Never leave the tractor unattended while running, and always engage the parking brake before dismounting.
