To start the Poulan Pro PPB355 Trimmer, first ensure the unit is on a flat surface. Press the primer bulb six times. Set the choke lever to the full choke position. Pull the starter rope until the engine attempts to start (no more than 5 pulls). Then, set the choke lever to the half choke position and pull the starter rope until the engine starts. Allow it to warm up before use.
Use a mixture of unleaded gasoline and 2-cycle engine oil. The recommended ratio is 40:1, which means 3.2 ounces of oil per gallon of gasoline. Ensure the fuel is mixed in an approved container and shake well before filling the trimmer.
To replace the trimmer line, first turn off the trimmer and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the spool from the trimmer head. Cut two lengths of line, each about 18 feet long. Insert one end of each line into the anchor hole and wind the line in the direction indicated on the spool. Reattach the spool to the trimmer head and ensure the lines are feeding through the eyelets.
If the engine is hard to start, check the fuel mixture to ensure it's correct. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Clean or replace the air filter if it's dirty. Lastly, ensure the choke lever is in the correct position during starting attempts.
Regular maintenance involves cleaning the air filter, checking and replacing the spark plug annually, inspecting the fuel filter, and replacing the trimmer line as needed. It's also important to clean the trimmer after each use and check for loose bolts or parts.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced or damaged trimmer head, loose parts, or incorrect assembly. Check the trimmer head for damage and ensure that all parts are securely fastened. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
To store your trimmer for the winter, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the entire unit, paying close attention to the air filter and trimmer head. Store the trimmer in a dry, safe place away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
Always wear protective eyewear, gloves, and long clothing when operating the trimmer. Ensure the work area is clear of debris and bystanders, especially children and pets. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid contact with the trimmer line while it's rotating.
If the trimmer line keeps breaking, check for obstacles such as rocks or wood that could cause wear. Ensure you're using the correct line size and type recommended by the manufacturer. Also, inspect the trimmer head for any sharp edges or damage that may be cutting the line.
If the trimmer is leaking fuel, inspect the fuel lines and tank for cracks or damage. Tighten any loose fittings and replace damaged components as needed. Avoid using the trimmer until the leak is resolved to prevent fire hazards.
