Ensure the snow thrower is on a flat surface. Insert the safety key, move the choke to the full position, and press the primer bulb three times. Pull the starter rope firmly or use the electric start button if available.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol.
Change the engine oil after the first 2 hours of use, and then every 25 hours of operation or at least once per season.
Check if there is fuel in the tank, ensure the safety key is inserted, verify the choke and throttle settings, and inspect the spark plug for wear or damage.
Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, clean the machine thoroughly, lubricate the moving parts, and store it in a dry, sheltered area.
Loosen the skid shoe bolts, adjust the skid shoes to the desired height, typically 1/8 inch above the ground, and then retighten the bolts securely.
Regularly inspect the auger for damage or wear, ensure the shear pins are intact, and lubricate the auger shaft at least once a season.
Check for loose parts, ensure the auger and impeller are not damaged, and inspect for any lodged debris in the machine. Tighten loose hardware as needed.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the belt cover, release the tensioner, and remove the old belt. Install the new belt, ensure proper alignment, and reassemble the components.
Inspect the chute and auger for clogs, ensure the throttle is set to full speed, and check if the auger drive belt is worn or damaged. Replace parts as necessary.
