To start the Poulan Pro PP524B, ensure the fuel valve is open. Set the choke to full if the engine is cold. Push the primer bulb 3-5 times and pull the starter handle until the engine starts. Once started, gradually adjust the choke to the run position.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use gasoline with more than 10% ethanol.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then once every 50 hours or at the beginning of each season. Use SAE 5W-30 oil for best performance in cold temperatures.
Check if there is fuel in the tank, the fuel valve is open, and the spark plug is clean and properly gapped. Ensure the choke is set correctly for the starting conditions. If problems persist, consult the manual or a professional technician.
Regularly check and tighten all auger and impeller bolts. Inspect for any damage or wear and replace as necessary. Lubricate the auger shaft annually to ensure smooth operation.
At the end of the snow season, drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Clean the machine thoroughly, inspect for damage, and store it in a dry, covered area to prevent rust and deterioration.
Check for loose parts or fasteners and tighten them. Inspect the auger and impeller for damage or obstructions. If vibration persists, consult a professional.
Loosen the skid shoe mounting nuts, adjust the skid shoes to the desired height, and retighten the nuts. Adjust to allow a 1/8-inch gap between the scraper bar and the ground for optimal performance.
Check for clogs or blockages in the chute and auger housing. Ensure the auger and impeller are not worn and are operating correctly. Adjust the skid shoes and scraper bar if needed.
Disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Remove the belt cover, then the old belt. Install the new belt around the pulleys, ensuring it is properly aligned. Reattach the belt cover and spark plug wire.
