To start your Poulan Pro PP295 chainsaw, ensure the chain brake is engaged, set the ignition switch to 'ON', pull the choke lever out, then pull the starter handle until the engine fires. Push the choke in halfway and pull the starter handle until the engine starts.
The correct fuel mixture for the Poulan Pro PP295 chainsaw is 40:1 ratio of unleaded gasoline to high-quality 2-cycle engine oil.
If your chainsaw won't start, check the fuel mixture, inspect the spark plug for fouling, verify the air filter is clean, and ensure the choke is set correctly. Also, make sure the ignition switch is in the 'ON' position.
To maintain the chain tension, ensure the chainsaw is off and cooled down. Loosen the bar nuts slightly, adjust the tensioning screw until the chain fits snugly against the bar, and re-tighten the bar nuts.
The air filter should be checked before each use and cleaned every 5 hours of operation, or more frequently if operating in dusty conditions.
Use a high-quality bar and chain oil specifically formulated for chainsaws. Do not use waste oil or other unsuitable substitutes.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the old spark plug with a spark plug wrench, set the gap on the new spark plug to 0.025 inches, and install it by hand before tightening it with the wrench. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
If the chain keeps coming off, check for proper tension, ensure the bar nuts are tight, inspect the chain for damage, and confirm the sprocket is not worn. Adjust the tension as needed.
Check the oil reservoir to ensure it is full. Inspect the oil outlet and clean it if it is clogged. Verify that the oil pump is functioning correctly and replace if necessary.
To safely store the chainsaw, empty the fuel tank, clean the chainsaw thoroughly, remove the chain and bar, and store in a dry, safe place away from children and pets.
