Poulan Pro PP196 Operator's Manual

To start the Poulan Pro PP196 Trimmer, ensure the trimmer is on a flat surface. Set the choke lever to the start position, press the primer bulb 6 times, pull the starter rope sharply, and once the engine starts, move the choke lever to the run position.
Use a mixture of unleaded gasoline and 2-cycle engine oil at a ratio of 40:1. Ensure the gasoline is fresh and has an octane rating of 87 or higher.
Turn off the trimmer and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the spool, wind the new line according to the directional arrows on the spool, and reassemble. Ensure the line is not twisted and is evenly distributed.
Check the fuel level and ensure it is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, and clean or replace it if necessary. Also, ensure the air filter is clean and not clogged.
Clean the air filter every 5 hours of operation. Remove the filter, wash it with soapy water, allow it to dry, and apply a few drops of oil before reinstalling.
Ensure you are using the correct line diameter and that it is properly wound. Avoid striking hard surfaces, as this can cause the line to break.
Regularly check the cutting head for damage or wear. Clean it after each use, and ensure all screws are tight. Replace any worn parts as necessary.
A rough idle may be due to a clogged air filter, dirty carburetor, or old fuel. Clean the air filter, check the carburetor for blockages, and replace old fuel with fresh.
To store the trimmer, drain the fuel, clean the exterior, and remove the spark plug. Add a few drops of oil to the cylinder, pull the starter rope to distribute the oil, and store in a dry place.
Wear eye protection, gloves, and long pants. Ensure the work area is clear of debris. Do not operate the trimmer near flammable materials and always maintain a firm grip while operating.
