Ensure the brake is engaged, the PTO is disengaged, and the throttle is set to the choke position. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine starts, then move the throttle to the desired speed.
Check the battery connections, ensure there's fuel in the tank, verify the spark plug is in good condition, and inspect the safety switches for proper operation.
Run the engine for a few minutes to warm the oil. Turn off the engine and remove the oil drain plug. Allow the oil to drain completely, replace the plug, and refill with the recommended oil type and quantity.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Ensure to check the owner's manual for specific recommendations.
Blades should be sharpened every 25 hours of use or when you notice uneven cutting. Always disconnect the spark plug before working on the blades.
Park the tractor on a level surface, adjust the deck lift lever to the highest position, and use the adjustment screws to level the deck from side to side and front to back.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and clean it with compressed air or replace it if it's too dirty. Reinstall the filter and secure the cover.
Check for dull blades, ensure the deck is level, and verify that the blades are properly installed and not damaged.
Clean the tractor, remove the battery, add a fuel stabilizer, and store it in a dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and debris.
