To change the oil, first ensure the tractor is on a level surface and the engine is off. Remove the oil fill cap and drain plug to allow old oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug and add new oil through the fill cap, checking the dipstick for proper level.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than 10% as it may damage the engine.
Check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure they are tight. Verify that there is enough fuel and that the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for wear and replace if necessary.
Regular maintenance includes changing the oil every 50 hours, replacing the air filter annually, sharpening the blades every mowing season, and checking tire pressure before each use.
Locate the mower deck adjustment lever on the left side of the tractor. Move the lever to adjust the cutting height to the desired position, ensuring both sides are even for a level cut.
Check the PTO switch to ensure it is functional. Inspect the drive belt for wear or damage. If the belt is intact, examine the clutch for any issues and consult the manual for further troubleshooting steps.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a spark plug wrench to remove the old spark plug. Install the new spark plug by threading it in by hand and then tightening with the wrench. Reattach the spark plug wire.
Uneven cutting may be caused by a dull blade, incorrect tire pressure, or an improperly leveled mower deck. Sharpen the blade, check tire pressures, and adjust the deck height if necessary.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the gasoline. Store in a dry, covered area. Disconnect the battery to prevent drainage and cover the tractor to protect it from dust and debris.
Check for any electrical shorts or parasitic drains. Ensure the battery terminals are clean and tight. Test the battery's charge using a multimeter and replace it if it fails to hold a charge.
