To change the oil, first, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up. Turn off the engine and remove the oil fill cap. Place a pan under the engine and remove the oil drain plug. Allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug and refill with the recommended oil type, checking the level with the dipstick.
Check the battery connections to ensure they are tight and clean. Verify that the fuel tank has fresh gasoline. Inspect the spark plug for any signs of wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure the choke is in the correct position for starting.
Sharpen the mower blades at least once a season, or more frequently if you notice uneven cutting or if you mow over rough terrain. Always wear protective gloves and disconnect the spark plug before removing the blades.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content as it can damage the engine components.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever on the mower deck. Move the lever to the desired position, ensuring both sides are at the same level for an even cut.
Check the belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure that the belt is properly seated on all pulleys and that the tension is adjusted correctly. Consult the manual for specific belt routing instructions.
To winterize, clean the tractor thoroughly, remove the spark plug and add a few drops of oil into the cylinder, then replace the plug. Add a fuel stabilizer to the tank and run the engine for a few minutes. Store the tractor in a dry, covered area.
The recommended tire pressure is typically 14 psi for the front tires and 10 psi for the rear tires. Check the tire sidewall or the owner's manual for specific information.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the air filter. If it's a foam filter, wash it with soap and water, then let it dry completely and apply a small amount of clean engine oil. Reinstall the filter and cover.
Annually, change the engine oil, replace the spark plug and air filter, sharpen or replace mower blades, check belts for wear, and lubricate all moving parts as recommended in the manual.
