To start the Poulan Pro PL3314, first ensure the chain brake is engaged. Set the switch to the "ON" position, pull the choke lever out fully, and prime the engine by pressing the primer bulb 6 times. Pull the starter rope until the engine fires, then push the choke in halfway and pull again until the engine starts.
Use a gasoline and 2-cycle oil mix at a ratio of 40:1. Ensure the gasoline is unleaded with an octane rating of 87 or higher, and use high-quality 2-cycle engine oil.
To adjust the chain tension, turn off the chainsaw and ensure it is cool. Loosen the bar nuts slightly, then turn the tensioning screw clockwise to tighten and counterclockwise to loosen the chain. Proper tension allows the chain to be lifted slightly off the guide bar but should remain snug. Tighten the bar nuts securely after adjustment.
If the chainsaw won't start, check the fuel mixture, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, verify that the air filter is clean, and confirm that the choke is set correctly. Also, check the on/off switch and ensure that the primer bulb is functioning.
Clean the air filter after every 5 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. A clean filter ensures efficient engine performance and longevity.
Perform daily maintenance by checking the chain tension, sharpening the chain, and inspecting the guide bar. Clean the air filter and check the spark plug every 5 hours. Inspect and replace the fuel filter as needed and lubricate the sprocket tip regularly.
Use a round file that matches the chain's specifications. Secure the chainsaw, and file each cutter at a consistent angle, maintaining equal pressure. Sharpen each cutter on one side, then switch to the other side to ensure even sharpening.
If the chain smokes, it may be too tight, dull, or lacking lubrication. Check the chain tension, sharpen the chain if needed, and ensure the automatic oiler is functioning properly.
First, ensure the chainsaw is off and cool. Remove the top cover, disconnect the spark plug wire, and use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug. Install a new spark plug, properly gapped, and reattach the spark plug wire and cover.
Irregular idling may be caused by a dirty air filter, incorrect carburetor settings, or poor fuel quality. Clean the air filter, adjust the carburetor as per the owner's manual, and use fresh fuel.
