Ensure the tractor is on a flat surface. Sit on the seat, press the brake pedal fully, and ensure the parking brake is engaged. Move the throttle lever to the choke position if starting cold. Turn the ignition key to start the engine.
Check the battery connections for corrosion or looseness. Ensure the fuel tank has gas and the fuel valve is open. Verify the spark plug is functioning and replace if necessary. Also, ensure the brake pedal is fully depressed and the PTO is off.
Run the engine for a few minutes to warm the oil. Stop the engine, remove the oil fill cap, and place a container under the oil drain valve. Open the valve and allow the oil to drain. Close the valve, replace the filter, and refill with new oil according to specifications.
Ensure the deck belt is intact and properly tensioned. Check the PTO switch to ensure it is functioning correctly. Inspect the wiring connections for any damage or disconnection.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the right fender. Move the lever to the desired height setting. Ensure the lever clicks into place to secure the setting.
Regularly check and clean the air filter, inspect the spark plug, and change the oil every 50 hours of operation. Sharpen or replace mower blades as needed and clean the mower deck after each use.
Ensure tire pressure is equal on all tires. Check for bent or dull blades and replace if necessary. Verify the mower deck is level by measuring from the blade tip to the ground on both sides.
Park the tractor on a flat surface and remove the key. Lift the deck to its highest position. Use a wrench to remove the blade bolt, taking care to note the direction of the blade. Install the new blade with the same orientation and tighten the bolt securely.
Check for debris caught in the blades or deck. Inspect the blades for balance and damage, replacing if needed. Verify all mounting hardware is tight and inspect the engine mounts for wear.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, removing all grass and debris. Change the oil and run the engine to distribute it. Add a fuel stabilizer to the tank and run the engine for a few minutes. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
