Ensure the tractor is on a flat surface, sit on the seat, and depress the brake pedal. Set the throttle to the choke position if the engine is cold, insert the key, and turn it to start. Release the key once the engine starts.
Check the fuel level and ensure there's fresh fuel. Inspect the spark plug for wear or fouling and replace if necessary. Ensure the battery is charged and connections are tight. Also, confirm that the parking brake is engaged.
Park the tractor on a level surface, disconnect the spark plug, and lower the deck. Use a wrench to remove the blade bolts, replace the old blades with new ones, ensuring they are aligned correctly, and tighten the bolts securely.
Change the engine oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours or at the start of each season. Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol-blended fuels exceeding 10%.
Check the tire pressure to ensure even weight distribution. Inspect the mower deck for levelness and adjust if necessary. Replace or sharpen dull blades and remove any debris from the deck.
After each use, remove grass clippings and debris from the deck. Use a garden hose to wash the underside, avoiding the belt area. Ensure the engine is off and cool before cleaning.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing oil, inspecting the air filter, checking tire pressure, sharpening blades, and inspecting belts for wear. Follow the owner's manual schedule.
Inspect the blades for damage or imbalance and replace if necessary. Check for loose bolts or components on the tractor. Ensure the wheels and tires are securely attached and balanced.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and remove the battery. Store the battery in a cool, dry place. Add fuel stabilizer to the gas tank and cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
