Poulan Pro PB21H42 Operator's Manual

To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then turn it off. Locate the oil drain valve, place a container underneath, and remove the oil cap. Let the oil drain completely. Replace the oil filter if necessary. Refill with the recommended oil and check the level with the dipstick.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
Check the battery connections to ensure they are clean and tight. Verify that the fuel tank has fresh gasoline and the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure the PTO switch is off and the brake is engaged.
The recommended tire pressure for the front tires is typically 14 psi, and for the rear tires, it is around 10 psi. Always refer to the manual for the exact specifications for your model.
First, disengage the mower deck and remove the spark plug wire for safety. Lower the deck to its lowest position, then remove the belt guards. Take note of the belt routing, remove the old belt, and install the new one following the correct path. Reattach the belt guards and the spark plug wire.
Clean the tractor thoroughly to remove grass and debris. Change the oil and oil filter, and top off all fluids. Add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank and run the engine for a few minutes. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor or store it in a garage to protect it from the elements.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the side of the tractor. Move the lever to the desired position to raise or lower the cutting deck. Ensure that both sides of the deck are at the same height for an even cut.
Check for debris or damage on the mower blades and replace them if necessary. Inspect the belts and pulleys for wear or misalignment. Ensure that the engine mounting bolts are tight and that the tires are properly inflated.
Sharpen the mower blades at the beginning of each mowing season and as needed throughout the season. Dull blades can tear grass, leading to an uneven cut and increased fuel consumption.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the air filter. If it's a paper filter, tap it gently to remove dirt. For foam filters, wash with soapy water, rinse, and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Replace the air filter if it's damaged or excessively dirty.
