To start the Poulan Pro PB20H46LT Tractor, first ensure the parking brake is engaged. Set the throttle to the choke position if the engine is cold. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine starts, then release the key. Move the throttle to the desired speed once the engine is running smoothly.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure they are tight. Verify that the fuel tank has fuel and the fuel valve is open. Check the spark plug for wear or damage and replace it if necessary. Ensure the safety features, like the brake pedal and seat switch, are engaged properly.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 50 hours of operation or at least once a season. This includes changing the engine oil, checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting the blades for sharpness, and lubricating all moving parts.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then turn off the engine. Place a container under the oil drain valve and open the valve to drain the oil. Once drained, close the valve and refill the engine with new oil as per the manufacturer's recommendations.
Use SAE 30 oil in temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 in temperatures below 32°F. Always check the owner's manual for any additional recommendations specific to your tractor model.
Uneven cutting can be caused by dull blades, incorrect tire pressure, or deck misalignment. Check and sharpen or replace the blades if needed. Ensure all tires are inflated to the correct pressure. Adjust the deck so it is level from side to side and front to back.
To replace the blades, ensure the tractor is on a flat surface and the ignition is off. Use a block of wood to prevent the blade from turning and remove the blade bolt with a wrench. Replace the old blade with a new one, ensuring it is installed in the correct orientation, and tighten the bolt securely.
If the transmission is slipping, check the drive belt for wear or damage and replace it if necessary. Ensure the transmission fluid is at the correct level and top it off if needed. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician for further diagnosis.
To clean the air filter, remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. If it is a foam filter, wash it with soap and water, then let it dry completely before reinstalling. If it is a paper filter, tap it gently to remove debris or replace it if it is too dirty.
To improve fuel efficiency, maintain the engine by regularly changing the oil and air filter. Keep the blades sharp to reduce engine load. Avoid idling the engine for long periods and mow at the recommended speed. Ensure the tires are properly inflated.
