To start the Poulan Pro PB18H42LT Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the motion drive lever is in neutral, and the blades are disengaged. Turn the ignition key to the 'Start' position and release once the engine starts.
For optimal performance, check the oil level before each use, clean the air filter every 25 hours, change the oil every 50 hours, and sharpen or replace blades as needed. Inspect belts, tires, and battery regularly.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connections, ensure the fuel tank has gasoline, verify the spark plug is in good condition, and confirm the PTO lever is disengaged. Also, inspect the seat switch for proper operation.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then stop the engine. Place a container under the oil drain valve, remove the oil cap, open the drain valve to release the oil, and replace with new oil. Use SAE 30 oil for best results.
If the mower blades are not engaging, check the PTO cable and switch connections. Also, inspect the belt for damage or misalignment. Replace any worn or broken parts to ensure proper operation.
To adjust the cutting height, use the lever located on the fender deck. Move the lever to the desired height position. Ensure the tractor is parked on a level surface to achieve an even cut.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum of 87 octane. Avoid using ethanol-blended fuels above 10% ethanol, as this can cause engine performance issues.
To improve traction on slopes, ensure the tires are properly inflated, reduce speed, and avoid sharp turns. Adding wheel weights or using tire chains can also help increase traction.
To winterize the tractor, clean the mower deck, change the oil, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place, and add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel system. Cover the tractor or store it indoors to protect it from the elements.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the old spark plug using a spark plug wrench, and install a new, properly gapped spark plug. Reconnect the spark plug wire securely.
