To start the Poulan Pro P3314WS chainsaw, ensure the chain brake is engaged, set the choke to full, press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible, and pull the starter rope sharply. Once the engine fires, move the choke to half and pull again until the engine starts.
Use a mixture of unleaded gasoline and high-quality 2-cycle engine oil at a ratio of 40:1. Ensure the gasoline has a minimum octane rating of 87, and avoid using fuel with more than 10% ethanol content.
Check the fuel level, ensure the fuel mixture is correct, inspect the spark plug for fouling, and verify that the air filter is clean. Also, ensure the chain brake is disengaged and the choke is set properly for starting.
To adjust the chain tension, loosen the bar nuts slightly, adjust the tensioning screw until there is a small amount of slack, and the chain can be pulled around the bar by hand. Retighten the bar nuts securely after adjustment.
Sharpen the chain using a round file that matches the chain's pitch. File each cutter at the same angle and depth, and check the depth gauges with a flat file to ensure they are at the correct height.
Clean the air filter after every 5 hours of use or more frequently in dusty conditions. Remove the filter, wash it in warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
Wear protective gear including gloves, eye protection, ear protection, and steel-toed boots. Ensure the work area is clear of obstacles, maintain a firm grip on the saw, and be aware of the kickback zone.
Ensure proper air circulation by keeping the air vents clear, use the correct fuel mixture, avoid running the saw at full throttle for extended periods, and allow the saw to cool down periodically during use.
Check for unevenly sharpened cutters or damaged chain links. Correct the sharpening angles and ensure all cutters are of equal length. Replace the chain if it is excessively worn or damaged.
Clean the chainsaw thoroughly, drain the fuel tank, and run the engine until it stops to clear any remaining fuel. Store in a dry place, and consider lubricating the chain and bar to prevent rust.
