Ensure that the tiller is on a flat surface. Check that the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is correct. Set the choke to the closed position, pull the starter rope gently until you feel resistance, then pull briskly. Once the engine starts, gradually open the choke.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use to remove any initial contaminants. Thereafter, change the oil every 25 hours of operation or once a season, whichever comes first.
Check for obstructions in the tines or debris wrapped around the tine shaft. Ensure that the drive belt is not worn or broken. If necessary, consult the user manual for belt replacement instructions.
Use the adjustable depth stake located at the rear of the tiller to set the desired tilling depth. Pull the pin, adjust the stake to the desired height, and secure the pin back in place.
Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation. Change the oil, clean the air filter, inspect and clean the tines, and store the tiller in a dry location. Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting.
Check the fuel level and ensure the choke is set correctly. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Verify that the air filter is clean and free from obstructions.
Wear appropriate protective gear such as gloves, goggles, and sturdy footwear. Keep bystanders and pets at a safe distance. Always operate the tiller in daylight or well-lit conditions and avoid loose clothing that could be caught in moving parts.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, then use a spark plug wrench to remove the old spark plug. Install the new spark plug by threading it in by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten with the wrench. Reconnect the spark plug wire securely.
Ensure that the air vents are not blocked and that the engine has adequate oil. Check for any debris buildup around the engine and cooling fins. Allow the engine to cool before resuming operation. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
