Ensure the tiller is on a flat surface. Set the throttle to the 'start' position, ensure the fuel valve is open, and the kill switch is set to 'on'. Pull the starter rope firmly until the engine starts.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Ensure the fuel is fresh and not mixed with oil.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each season, whichever comes first.
Check if the tine control lever is engaged. Inspect the drive belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure there are no obstructions in the tines.
Pull out the depth stake pin, adjust the stake to the desired depth, and reinsert the pin to secure it in place.
Clean the air filter every 25 hours of operation or more often in dusty conditions. Replace the filter if it is damaged or excessively dirty.
Drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Change the oil, clean the tiller, and store it in a dry, covered location.
Check the spark plug for wear or damage and replace it if necessary. Ensure there is fresh fuel in the tank and the fuel valve is open. Check that the kill switch is set to 'on'.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the belt guard, and take off the old belt. Install the new belt around the pulleys, ensuring it is aligned correctly, and reinstall the belt guard.
Use a garden hose to wash off soil and debris. Avoid using high-pressure water as it can damage seals. Dry the tines thoroughly to prevent rust.
