The recommended oil type for the Poulan Pro CHDR500D Tiller is SAE 30 for temperatures above 32°F and SAE 5W-30 for colder weather.
To store the tiller during the off-season, clean it thoroughly, drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer, and store it in a dry, sheltered area.
If your tiller won't start, first check the fuel level and quality, inspect the spark plug for damage, and ensure the air filter is clean.
The oil in your Poulan Pro CHDR500D Tiller should be changed after the first 2 hours of use and then every 25 hours of operation or once a season.
To adjust the tilling depth, use the depth stake lever located at the rear of the tiller. Raise or lower the stake to set the desired depth.
To clean the air filter, remove the cover, take out the filter, and wash it with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
If the tines are not rotating, check for obstructions, ensure the tine engagement lever is activated, and inspect the drive belt for wear or damage.
To prevent excessive vibration, ensure the tines are not bent or damaged, tighten all bolts and nuts, and inspect for loose or damaged components.
While not mandatory, using ethanol-free fuel or fuel with low ethanol content can help prevent fuel system issues. Always use fresh, clean fuel.
Before each use, check the oil level, inspect the air filter, ensure all fasteners are secure, and visually inspect the tines and wheels for damage.
