To start the Poulan Pro 961240002 mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled, the spark plug is connected, and the throttle is set to the choke position. Pull the starter cord firmly and release it gently to start the engine.
It is recommended to use SAE 30 oil for the Poulan Pro 961240002 mower in temperatures above 32°F. For colder temperatures, SAE 5W-30 oil is preferable.
Sharpen the mower blades at least once a season or every 25 hours of use to ensure a clean cut and maintain lawn health.
If the mower does not start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and connected, and make sure the air filter is not clogged. Also, verify that the throttle is set correctly.
To change the air filter, locate the air filter cover on the side of the engine, remove the screws, take out the old filter, and replace it with a new one. Reattach the cover securely.
The recommended maintenance schedule includes checking the oil level before each use, changing the oil every 50 hours or annually, cleaning or replacing the air filter every 25 hours, and sharpening the blades annually.
To winterize the mower, drain the fuel tank, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry, sheltered location. Consider removing the spark plug to prevent accidental starting.
Excessive vibration may be caused by damaged or unbalanced blades. Inspect the blades for damage and balance them if necessary. Tighten any loose components that could be causing vibration.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever near each wheel, and move it to the desired position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
If the mower cuts unevenly, check the blade for sharpness and damage. Ensure that the wheels are set to the same height and that the mower deck is not clogged with grass clippings.
