To start the Poulan Pro 305 Chainsaw, ensure the chain brake is engaged. Set the choke to the full position, press the primer bulb 6 times, and pull the starter rope until the engine fires. Move the choke to the half position and pull the rope again until the engine starts.
The Poulan Pro 305 Chainsaw requires a 40:1 fuel mixture, which is 3.2 ounces of 2-cycle engine oil per gallon of unleaded gasoline.
If the chainsaw won't start, check for fuel issues, ensure the spark plug is clean and working, verify the air filter is not clogged, and inspect the ignition coil for damage.
Regularly sharpen the chain, check the tension before each use, and ensure it is properly lubricated. Replace the chain if it shows signs of excessive wear or damage.
To tension the chain, loosen the bar nuts, turn the tensioning screw until the chain is snug against the bar, then tighten the bar nuts securely. The chain should move freely by hand but not hang loose.
Stop the engine immediately, disengage the chain brake, and carefully remove any obstructions. Ensure the chain is properly tensioned and sharpened before restarting.
Clean the air filter after every 5 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. Replace the filter if it shows signs of wear or damage.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug boot, remove the old plug with a socket wrench, check the gap on the new plug (0.025 inches), and install the new plug by tightening it securely before reattaching the boot.
Power loss can be due to a dull chain, clogged air filter, or improper fuel mixture. Ensure the chain is sharp, the air filter is clean, and the fuel is correctly mixed.
Drain the fuel tank, run the engine to burn any remaining fuel, clean the chainsaw thoroughly, and store it in a dry place. Consider adding a few drops of oil to the spark plug hole to prevent rust.
