Poulan Pro 2990 Operator's Manual

The Poulan Pro 2990 requires a 50:1 fuel-to-oil ratio. This means you should mix 2.6 ounces of 2-cycle air-cooled engine oil with 1 gallon of fresh unleaded gasoline.
Ensure the chainsaw has fresh fuel and the correct fuel mixture. Check the spark plug for damage or fouling and replace if necessary. Verify that the air filter is clean, and inspect the fuel lines for cracks or leaks.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter, checking and replacing the spark plug annually, inspecting the fuel filter, and ensuring the chain is sharp and properly tensioned.
To tension the chain, loosen the bar nuts slightly, adjust the tensioning screw until the chain fits snugly against the bar but can still be pulled around by hand, and then tighten the bar nuts securely.
Ensure the chain is properly tensioned and that the bar and chain are compatible. Check for any damage to the guide bar or chain. If necessary, replace these components.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and wash it with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
Secure the chainsaw, use a round file that matches the chain's pitch, and file each cutter at a consistent angle. Maintain equal strokes per cutter and check the depth gauges with a flat file and depth gauge tool.
Empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the chainsaw thoroughly, remove the chain and guide bar, and store them separately in a dry place. Apply a protective oil to the chain and bar.
Overheating can result from a dirty air filter, insufficient lubrication, or a dull chain. Ensure the air filter is clean, the oil reservoir is filled, and the chain is sharp.
Smoke can be caused by an improper fuel mixture, a dull chain, or insufficient lubrication. Verify the fuel mixture is correct, sharpen the chain, and check the oiling system.
