To change the oil, first ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Remove the oil fill cap/dipstick, and place a pan under the oil drain plug. Remove the drain plug and allow the old oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug, then refill with the recommended oil type. Check the oil level with the dipstick and adjust if necessary.
First, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for damage or buildup and replace if necessary. Confirm that the air filter is clean, and check the battery connections if your mower has an electric start. If the problem persists, consult the user manual or contact a professional.
It is recommended to sharpen the mower blades at least once per mowing season or after 25 hours of use. Dull blades tear grass, leading to a brownish, unhealthy lawn. Make sure to balance the blades after sharpening to prevent mower vibration.
To clean the mower deck, first, ensure the engine is off and cool. Use a garden hose to spray underneath the deck to remove grass clippings and debris. For stubborn buildup, carefully use a plastic scraper. Regular cleaning helps maintain optimal cutting performance.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol to prevent engine damage. Stabilize the fuel if storing the mower for extended periods.
To replace the air filter, locate the air filter cover on the side of the engine. Remove the cover, take out the old filter, and insert a new one of the same size and type. Secure the cover back in place. A clean air filter ensures efficient engine performance.
Uneven cutting can be caused by a dull blade, uneven tire pressure, or a misadjusted deck. Check and sharpen the blade, ensure all tires are equally inflated, and adjust the deck height according to the manual.
Before storing, clean the mower thoroughly and perform maintenance such as changing the oil, cleaning the air filter, and sharpening the blades. Add fuel stabilizer to the gas and run the engine for a few minutes. Store the mower in a dry place and remove the battery if applicable.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced blade, loose parts, or debris caught in the mower deck. Check and balance the blade, tighten any loose bolts, and clean the deck. If the issue continues, consult a professional.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever at each wheel. Move the lever to the desired cutting height position, ensuring all wheels are set to the same level for an even cut.
