To start the Poulan Pro 2550T Chainsaw, ensure the chain brake is engaged, set the switch to the 'On' position, pull the choke to the full position, and then pull the starter rope until the engine fires. Push the choke in halfway and pull the starter rope again until the engine starts.
Use a 40:1 ratio of unleaded gasoline to 2-cycle engine oil. Make sure the gasoline is no older than 30 days to ensure optimal performance.
To tension the chain, loosen the bar nuts slightly. Turn the tensioning screw clockwise to tighten the chain until it fits snugly against the bottom of the guide bar, but still moves freely. Retighten the bar nuts securely.
If the chainsaw won't start, check the fuel mixture for freshness, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, verify the air filter is clean, and inspect the ignition coil for any damage.
Sharpen the chain every time you refuel the chainsaw or when you notice a decrease in cutting performance. Regular sharpening prolongs the life of the chain and ensures efficient cutting.
After using the chainsaw, clean the exterior with a brush, inspect the chain and guide bar for wear, check the chain tension, clean the air filter, and inspect the spark plug for any signs of wear or damage.
A chain can come off the guide bar if it is too loose. Make sure the chain is properly tensioned and that the guide bar and chain are aligned correctly. Also, check for any obstructions in the guide bar groove.
To clean the air filter, remove the cover and take out the filter. Wash it with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
When storing the chainsaw, drain the fuel tank, clean the chainsaw thoroughly, lubricate the chain, and store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Consider using a chainsaw case for added protection.
If the chainsaw stalls, check the fuel filter for clogs, inspect the carburetor adjustment settings, clean the air filter, and ensure the spark plug is in good condition. Adjusting the idle speed may also help.
