To start the Poulan Pro 2550 SE Chainsaw, first ensure the chain brake is engaged. Set the choke to the full position, then press the primer bulb six times. Pull the starter rope until the engine attempts to start. Move the choke to the half position and pull the starter rope until the engine runs. Let it idle for a few seconds before disengaging the brake.
The Poulan Pro 2550 SE Chainsaw requires a 40:1 fuel mixture. This means you should mix 3.2 ounces of two-stroke engine oil with one gallon of fresh unleaded gasoline.
The air filter should be checked and cleaned after every five hours of use. Remove the filter, wash it in warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
To sharpen the chain, first ensure the chainsaw is off and the chain brake is engaged. Use a round file that matches the chain's pitch. File each cutter with several strokes at a consistent angle, ensuring all cutters are sharpened evenly. Check the depth gauges and file them if necessary.
If the chainsaw won't start, check the fuel mixture and ensure it's fresh. Inspect the spark plug for damage or wear and replace if necessary. Confirm the air filter is clean. Additionally, check the fuel filter and lines for blockages.
To adjust the chain tension, first ensure the chainsaw is turned off. Loosen the bar nuts slightly, adjust the tensioning screw to tighten or loosen the chain, then retighten the bar nuts. The chain should have a slight sag but be taut enough not to hang from the bar.
To replace the spark plug, first disconnect the spark plug boot. Use a spark plug wrench to remove the old spark plug. Insert the new spark plug by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten it with the wrench. Reattach the spark plug boot.
For long-term storage, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Remove the chain and bar, clean them, and apply a protective oil coating. Store the chainsaw in a dry, dust-free area.
To prevent the chain from dulling quickly, avoid cutting into the ground or dirty wood. Ensure the chain is properly tensioned and sharpened. Regularly check the chain lubrication system to ensure it is functioning correctly.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting and replacing the spark plug if necessary, sharpening the chain, checking the chain tension, and inspecting the bar for wear. Additionally, verify the oiling system is working and the fuel system is clean.
