Poulan Pro 2450 Operator's Manual

To start your Poulan Pro 2450 chainsaw, ensure the chain brake is engaged. Move the choke lever to the full choke position. Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible. Pull the starter rope until the engine attempts to start, then move the choke to the half choke position and pull the starter rope again until the engine starts.
Use a gasoline and 2-cycle oil mix at a ratio of 40:1. It's recommended to use unleaded gasoline with a minimum 87 octane rating and a high-quality 2-cycle engine oil.
Sharpen the chain whenever you notice it cutting inefficiently, producing fine sawdust instead of wood chips, or if it becomes difficult to cut through wood. Regular checks and sharpening after every few uses can help maintain optimal performance.
The chain should be tight enough that it does not sag from the guide bar but loose enough that you can pull it slightly away from the bar with a gloved hand. Proper tension allows for about a 1/8-inch gap between the chain and the bar when pulled.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash the filter in warm soapy water and allow it to dry completely. Lightly oil the filter before reinstalling it to ensure proper function.
If your chainsaw won't start, check if the fuel tank has fresh fuel, the spark plug is clean and functional, the air filter is clean, and that the choke is properly set. Inspect the ignition system for issues and ensure the starter rope is functioning correctly.
To adjust the carburetor, locate the adjustment screws marked L (low), H (high), and T (idle). Use a screwdriver to adjust the screws: L for low-speed settings, H for high-speed settings, and T for idle speed. Fine-tuning requires experience; consult the manual or a professional if unsure.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter, inspecting and replacing the spark plug if necessary, checking the chain tension, sharpening the chain, and cleaning the guide bar. Regularly check for loose screws and damaged parts.
Before storing, drain the fuel tank and run the chainsaw until it stops to clear the carburetor of fuel. Clean the entire unit, including the chain and guide bar, and apply a protective oil to prevent rust. Store in a dry, dust-free environment.
If the chain frequently comes off, check the tension and ensure it's adjusted correctly. Inspect the guide bar and chain for wear and damage. Replace any worn components and ensure the sprocket is in good condition.
