To start the Poulan Pro 220LE Chainsaw, first ensure that the chain brake is engaged. Set the switch to the 'ON' position, pull the choke lever to the full choke position, and press the primer bulb six times. Pull the starter rope until the engine fires, then push the choke in and continue pulling until the engine starts.
If your Poulan Pro 220LE won't start, check the fuel level and ensure it's fresh. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, and replace if necessary. Ensure the air filter is clean and that the choke is in the correct position for starting.
Regularly sharpen the chain using a round file that matches the chain's specifications. Keep the chain well-lubricated with bar oil and ensure the tension is adjusted according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
The Poulan Pro 220LE requires a 40:1 fuel mixture, which means 3.2 ounces of two-cycle engine oil per gallon of gasoline. Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87.
If the chainsaw stalls, check the air filter and clean or replace it if it's dirty. Examine the fuel filter and replace if it's clogged. Ensure the carburetor is properly adjusted, and check for any fuel line leaks.
To adjust the chain tension, first loosen the bar nuts slightly. Turn the tensioning screw clockwise to tighten the chain or counterclockwise to loosen it. Ensure the chain is snug against the bar but can still be moved by hand. Tighten the bar nuts after adjustment.
Clean the air filter after every 5 hours of use or more frequently if operating in dusty conditions. Remove the filter, wash it in warm soapy water, rinse, and let it air dry before reinstalling.
Wear protective gear, including gloves, eye protection, ear protection, and a helmet. Ensure the chain brake is functional and engage it when not actively cutting. Maintain a firm grip and stable footing while operating the chainsaw.
Drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the chainsaw thoroughly, including the bar and chain. Store the chainsaw in a dry place, preferably in a protective case or cover to prevent dust accumulation.
Excessive smoke can result from an incorrect fuel mixture or clogged air filter. Ensure the fuel mixture ratio is correct and check the air filter for cleanliness. Also, inspect the muffler for any obstructions.
