To set up the Olympus FL-36R for wireless flash, ensure the flash is in RC mode by pressing the Mode button until 'RC' appears. Then, select the desired group and channel settings that correspond with your camera's RC settings.
Ensure both the flash and camera are set to the same channel and group if using wireless mode. Check that the flash is properly seated on the camera's hot shoe if using direct connection.
Use high-capacity NiMH rechargeable batteries for longer life. Turn off the flash when not in use and reduce the flash output power if full power is not necessary.
The FL-36R is designed for Olympus cameras with TTL functionality. However, it can be used with other brands in manual mode, but TTL and wireless functionalities may not be supported.
Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the flash. Avoid using solvents or water. Regularly check the battery compartment for any corrosion or leakage.
The FL-36R does not support user-updatable firmware. For any firmware issues, contact Olympus customer support for assistance.
Check the batteries to ensure they are installed correctly and fully charged. Try using a different set of batteries or inspect the battery contacts for any dirt or corrosion.
The FL-36R has a recycle time of approximately 2 seconds with fresh batteries on full power. Recycle time may vary based on battery type and condition.
Tilt the flash head upward or rotate it to the side to bounce the flash off a ceiling or wall. This softens shadows and provides more even lighting.
Allow the flash to cool down by turning it off for a few minutes. Avoid firing the flash at maximum power repeatedly in a short time. Ensure the ventilation slots are not blocked.
