To start the Murray 468602x68A tractor, ensure that the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the throttle is set to choke for a cold start. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine starts, then release the key.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C) to ensure optimal performance and protection of the engine.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of operation and every 50 hours thereafter, or at the start of each season, whichever comes first.
If the mower blades do not engage, check the PTO switch and ensure it is in the on position. Inspect the drive belt for any signs of wear or damage. Also, verify the electrical connections to the PTO clutch.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever on the mower deck. Move the lever to the desired position to set the cutting height. Different positions correspond to different heights.
If the tractor does not start, check the battery connections for tightness and corrosion. Ensure the fuel tank has fresh gasoline and the fuel valve is open. Also, inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage.
To improve traction on wet grass, consider using tire chains or adding wheel weights. Reducing the speed while mowing can also help maintain better control.
To replace the air filter, first remove the air filter cover. Take out the old air filter and clean the housing of any debris. Insert a new air filter and secure the cover back in place.
The recommended tire pressure for the front tires is 14 PSI and for the rear tires is 10 PSI. Ensure to check the tire pressure regularly for optimal performance.
To winterize the tractor, clean the deck and undercarriage of any grass or debris. Change the oil and add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor or store it indoors to protect it from the elements.
