Ensure the tractor is in neutral, the parking brake is engaged, and the PTO is off. Insert the key and turn it to the start position. Allow the engine to warm up before use.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 32°F. Always check the owner's manual for specific oil recommendations.
Check the battery connections, ensure the fuel valve is open, inspect the spark plug, and make sure the seat switch is functioning properly.
Disconnect the spark plug for safety, raise the mowing deck, use a wrench to remove the blade bolt, and replace the blade. Ensure the blade is positioned correctly before securing it.
Perform routine maintenance every 50 hours of use or at the beginning of each mowing season. This includes changing the oil, sharpening the blades, and checking the belts and air filter.
Use the lever located on the right side of the tractor to adjust the cutting height. Move the lever to the desired position, ensuring all wheels are set to the same height.
Check the engine cooling fins for debris, ensure the air intake screen is clear, and verify that the engine oil level is adequate.
Locate the air filter cover, remove it, and take out the old filter. Insert a new filter and reattach the cover, ensuring a snug fit.
Check for a bent blade, ensure the tires are equally inflated, and verify that the mowing deck is level. Adjust as necessary to resolve uneven cutting.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, perform maintenance like changing the oil and air filter, and add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank. Store in a dry place and cover the tractor to protect it from dust.
