Murray 46577x6B Parts Manual

To change the oil, first ensure the engine is off and cool. Place a pan under the oil drain plug, remove the plug, and allow the old oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug and refill the engine with the recommended oil grade, checking the owner’s manual for specific capacity guidelines.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure they are tight. Verify the fuel level and that the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for wear and replace if necessary. Ensure the PTO is disengaged and the brake is engaged before starting.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever near the driver's seat. Move the lever to the desired position, aligning it with the cutting height indicators on the mower deck. Adjust evenly on both sides for a level cut.
Follow the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual. Typically, this includes checking and changing the oil every 50 hours, inspecting and cleaning the air filter every 25 hours, and sharpening or replacing blades as needed. Regularly inspect belts, tires, and safety features.
Uneven cutting can be caused by a dull or damaged blade, incorrect tire pressure, or an improperly leveled deck. Ensure blades are sharp and balanced, tires are inflated equally, and the deck is level from side to side and front to back.
For winter storage, clean the tractor thoroughly to remove grass and debris. Change the oil and filter, and add a fuel stabilizer to the tank. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Refer to the owner's manual for specific blade recommendations. Generally, high-lift, mulching, or standard blades available through Murray or authorized dealers will be compatible. Ensure the size and center hole match the original specifications.
To replace the drive belt, disconnect the spark plug and remove the mower deck. Loosen the belt tensioner and slip the old belt off the pulleys. Install the new belt according to the diagram in the manual, ensuring it seats properly on all pulleys. Reattach the mower deck.
Excessive vibration can be caused by imbalanced blades, loose parts, or damaged belts. Check that the blades are balanced and securely attached. Inspect the belts for damage or wear, and tighten any loose bolts or components.
If the mower deck won’t engage, ensure the PTO lever is fully engaged and the engine is running at full throttle. Check the deck belt for tension and condition. Inspect the PTO switch and wiring for faults or damage.
