To start the Murray 46570x71A Tractor, ensure that the parking brake is set, the PTO lever is disengaged, and the throttle is in the 'Fast' position. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the 'Start' position until the engine fires up.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connections for corrosion or looseness, ensure the fuel tank has gas, inspect the spark plug for wear, and verify that the safety interlock switches are engaged properly.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level and changing it every 25 hours of use, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting the blades for sharpness and damage, and lubricating the fittings and pivot points.
To improve cutting performance, ensure the blades are sharp and balanced. Adjust the deck height according to the grass type and condition, and mow when the grass is dry to prevent clogging.
If the tractor runs unevenly or stalls, check the fuel filter for clogs, ensure the air filter is clean, and examine the carburetor for dirt or debris. Adjust the throttle and choke settings if necessary.
To replace the drive belt, engage the parking brake, disconnect the spark plug, and remove the cutting deck. Release the belt tension and remove the old belt from the pulleys. Install the new belt, ensuring it is properly seated on all pulleys, then reassemble the deck.
For winter storage, clean the tractor thoroughly, remove the battery and store it in a dry place, add fuel stabilizer to the gas tank, and cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
To adjust the cutting deck height, locate the height adjustment lever on the side of the tractor. Move the lever to the desired position, ensuring it clicks into place to lock the deck at the chosen height.
If the steering feels loose, check the steering linkage for wear or damage, tighten any loose bolts, and lubricate the steering components. Inspect the front tires for proper inflation and alignment.
To dispose of used oil safely, collect it in a sealable container and take it to a local recycling center or auto shop that accepts used oil. Never pour it down the drain or on the ground.
