To start the Murray 465617A tractor, ensure the brake is engaged, the PTO is off, and the throttle is set to a mid-range position. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine fires, then release.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connection, ensure the fuel valve is open, and verify that the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Additionally, make sure the seat switch is engaged.
The oil should be changed every 50 hours of operation or at the start of each mowing season, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 oil for best performance.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol to prevent engine damage.
Check if the mower deck is level and that the blades are sharp and properly installed. Adjust the tire pressure if necessary, and ensure the ground speed is not too fast for the mowing conditions.
Inspect the drive belt for wear or damage and replace it if necessary. Ensure that the transmission fluid level is correct and that the fluid is clean. Consult the manual for specific fluid types.
Keep the battery terminals clean and free of corrosion. Check the battery charge periodically and recharge as necessary. Store the battery in a cool, dry place during the off-season.
The recommended tire pressure is typically around 14 psi for the front tires and 10 psi for the rear tires. Always check the manual to confirm specific requirements for your model.
To replace the blades, first disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting. Lift the mower deck and secure it. Use a wrench to remove the blade bolt, replace the blade, and re-tighten the bolt securely.
Excessive vibration may be caused by unbalanced or damaged blades. Check and balance the blades or replace them if necessary. Also, inspect the engine mounts and deck supports for damage.
