To start the Murray 46370x5C tractor, ensure that the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is off, and the gear lever is in neutral. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it clockwise to start the engine. Release the key once the engine starts.
For optimal performance, use SAE 30 oil in temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 for colder temperatures. Always check the owner’s manual for specific recommendations.
If the engine won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and in good condition, and verify the battery connections are secure. Also, make sure the safety features, like the seat switch, are functioning properly.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, and checking tire pressure. Additionally, lubricate moving parts and sharpen the blades at least once per season.
To change the blades, ensure the tractor is on a flat surface and the engine is off. Disconnect the spark plug for safety. Use a wrench to remove the bolt securing the blade, then replace it with a new one, making sure it is properly aligned. Re-tighten the bolt securely.
Uneven cutting can be caused by dull blades, incorrect tire pressure, or a misaligned deck. Check and adjust the tire pressure, sharpen or replace blades, and ensure the deck is level.
To improve battery life, regularly clean the terminals, ensure the connections are tight, and store the battery in a cool, dry place when not in use. Use a trickle charger during the off-season to maintain charge.
For winter storage, clean the tractor, change the oil, and remove the battery. Store the battery indoors and fill the fuel tank with stabilized fuel. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
If the drive belt slips, inspect it for wear and tension. Replace it if it's worn out. Ensure that the pulleys are clean and aligned properly. Adjust the tension as per the user manual guidelines.
The air filter should be checked every 25 hours of operation and replaced at least once per season or more frequently if the tractor is used in dusty conditions.
