Murray 42830A Parts Manual

Ensure the tractor is on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, set the throttle to the 'fast' position, and turn the ignition key to start the engine.
Use SAE 30 oil for general use in temperatures above 40°F (4°C). For temperatures below, consider using SAE 5W-30.
Check the battery connections, ensure there's fuel in the tank, inspect the spark plug, and make sure the safety switches are properly engaged.
Disconnect the spark plug, lift the tractor safely, use a wrench to remove the blade bolts, replace with new blades, and ensure they are securely fastened.
Conduct regular checks on oil levels, replace the air filter annually, sharpen or replace blades as needed, and inspect belts and spark plugs every season.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the side of the tractor and move it to the desired position ranging from 1.5 to 4 inches.
Check for proper belt tension and inspect for wear or damage. Replace belts if necessary and ensure transmission fluid levels are adequate.
Regular maintenance such as changing the oil, air filter, and keeping tires properly inflated can help improve fuel efficiency.
Always wear appropriate safety gear, inspect the tractor before use, avoid steep slopes, and never carry passengers.
Clean the tractor, change the oil, add fuel stabilizer, disconnect the battery, and store in a dry, covered location.
