To start the Murray 42591x86A Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is disengaged, and the throttle is set to the choke position. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine fires, then release it to the run position.
Check the battery connections for tightness and corrosion. Ensure there is fresh fuel in the tank and that the fuel valve is open. If the problem persists, inspect the spark plug and replace it if necessary.
To change the oil, warm up the engine, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and allow the old oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug, and refill the engine with the recommended oil type and quantity, then check for leaks.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Always check the owner's manual for the manufacturer's recommendations.
Ensure the deck is level and the blades are sharp. Check for any obstructions under the deck and ensure the tire pressure is even on all sides. Adjust the deck height as necessary.
The recommended tire pressure for the front tires is 14 psi, and for the rear tires, it is 10 psi. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific recommendations.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Then, remove the mower deck and secure it. Use a wrench to remove the blade bolt, replace the old blade with a new one, and tighten the bolt securely. Reinstall the deck.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced or damaged blades, loose bolts, or worn out bearings. Inspect and balance the blades, tighten any loose bolts, and replace bearings if necessary.
To clean the air filter, remove the cover, take out the filter, and tap it gently to remove dirt. If it's too dirty, wash it with soap and water, allow it to dry completely, and then reinstall it.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, inspecting and cleaning the air filter, sharpening the blades, checking tire pressure, and inspecting belts and cables for wear and tear.
