To start the Murray 42590B Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is disengaged, and the throttle is set to half-speed. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine starts. Release the key once the engine is running.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the fuel level is adequate, and verify that the spark plug is in good condition. Additionally, make sure the safety switches are functioning properly.
Oil should be changed every 50 hours of operation or at the beginning of each mowing season. Always use the oil type recommended in the user manual.
The Murray 42590B Tractor requires unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87. Avoid using ethanol-blended fuels with more than 10% ethanol.
Uneven cutting may be caused by a dull blade, uneven tire pressure, or an improperly leveled deck. Check and correct these issues as necessary and ensure the blades are sharpened regularly.
If the blades won't engage, inspect the PTO switch for damage, check the belt for wear or breakage, and ensure the battery is fully charged. The problem may also be with the PTO clutch or wiring.
To replace the blade, ensure the engine is off and the key is removed. Tilt the tractor to access the blade, using a block to prevent the blade from turning. Loosen the bolt securing the blade, replace with a new one, and tighten the bolt securely.
Before storing, clean the tractor, change the oil, add a fuel stabilizer, and remove the battery. Store the battery in a cool, dry place and ensure the tractor is kept in a dry, sheltered location.
Adjust the cutting height by using the lever located on the side of the tractor. Move the lever to the desired position, ensuring both sides are set to the same height for even cutting.
The recommended tire pressure for the Murray 42590B Tractor is typically 10 psi for the rear tires and 14 psi for the front tires. Refer to the owner's manual for specific details.
